Catholic Daily Readings for the Holy Gospel, October 1, 2021. Reflection on Daily Gospel of Luke 10:13-16 - Let us meditate through the Pope´s reflections to Holy Gospel, USCCB Daily Readings and the Daily Prayer for your life to get serenity and inner peace on Friday of the 26th Week in Ordinary Time. "Christ pours out his mercy on good and bad people, on those who follow him and also on those who despise him. He remains close to all and suffers rejection, but he patiently awaits the conversion of all."

Entrance Antiphon.

(Cf. Deut 32:10-12): "The Lord led her and taught her, and kept her as the apple of his eye. Like an eagle spreading its wings he took her up and bore her on his shoulders. The Lord alone was her guide".

Collect.

Priestly prayer for Friday 26th of Ordinary Time.

O God, who open your Kingdom to those who are humble and to little ones, lead us to follow trustingly in the little way of Saint Thérèse, so that through her intercession we may see your eternal glory revealed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Serenity prayer for October 1.

Holy Spirit of power, of strength, of love, of Grace and of Wisdom, I come to your Presence because I want my will to be guided by your inspirations, by all your instruction to help me transform problems into blessings. O Christ the King, fill me with the strength of your love so that I may have the courage to be different, always following your commands. Amen.

Readings for Friday.

Daily readings for gospel - First Reading for daily Gospel: Catholic Reading from the book of Baruch 1:15-22: "We have sinned in the Lord´s sight and disobeyed him."

During the Babylonian captivity, the exiles prayed: "Justice is with the Lord, our God; and we today are flushed with shame, we men of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem, that we, with our kings and rulers and priests and prophets, and with our ancestors, have sinned in the Lord’s sight and disobeyed him. We have neither heeded the voice of the Lord, our God, nor followed the precepts which the Lord set before us. From the time the Lord led our ancestors out of the land of Egypt until the present day, we have been disobedient to the Lord, our God, and only too ready to disregard his voice. And the evils and the curse that the Lord enjoined upon Moses, his servant, at the time he led our ancestors forth from the land of Egypt to give us the land flowing with milk and honey, cling to us even today. For we did not heed the voice of the Lord, our God, in all the words of the prophets whom he sent us, but each one of us went off after the devices of his own wicked heart, served other gods, and did evil in the sight of the Lord, our God."

Daily Psalm for Friday.

Responsorial Psalm is taken from the Book of Psalm 78(79):1b-2, 3-5, 8, 9: "For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us." (R).

  • O God, the nations have come into your inheritance; they have defiled your holy temple, they have laid Jerusalem in ruins. They have given the corpses of your servants as food to the birds of heaven, the flesh of your faithful ones to the beasts of the earth. (R).
  • They have poured out their blood like water round about Jerusalem, and there is no one to bury them. We have become the reproach of our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us. (R).
  • O LORD, how long? Will you be angry forever? Will your jealousy burn like fire? Remember not against us the iniquities of the past; may your compassion quickly come to us, for we are brought very low. (R).
  • Help us, O God our savior, because of the glory of your name; Deliver us and pardon our sins for your name´s sake, (R).

Daily Gospel Acclamation.

"Alleluia, alleluia. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts. Alleluia, alleluia" (Daily readings for today extracted of Psalm 95:8)

Daily Gospel - Luke 10:13-16.

Catholic Daily readings for Friday, Gospel for October 1 (Whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.): At that time, Jesus said to them, "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, ‘Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.’ Whoever listens to you listens to me. Whoever rejects you rejects me. And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.""

Catholic Daily Readings reflection, by Pope Francis.

"Jesus´ preaching is addressed to each one of us," Pope Francis.

We read In the daily Readings that Jesus is saddened at being rejected, while the pagan cities like Tyre and Sidon, seeing His miracles, "would surely have believed". And He wept because these people were incapable of loving, even though He desired to reach every heart He met, with a message that was not a dictatorial message, but a message of love.

We, each one of us, can put ourselves in the place of the inhabitants of these three cities: I, who have received so much from the Lord, who was born in a Christian society, who have known Jesus Christ, who have known salvation, I who have been educated in the faith. However, it is effortless for me to forget Jesus. However, we think of the news of other people who, as soon as they heard the announcement of Jesus, converted and followed him. But we have become accustomed to this.

And this attitude harms us because it reduces the Gospel to a social or sociological fact, instead of a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus speaks to me, he speaks to you, he speaks to each one of us. Jesus´ preaching is addressed to each one of us. How is it that those pagans, as soon as they heard Jesus´ preaching, went with him; and I, who was born here, in a Christian society, have become accustomed to it, and Christianity has become a social habit, a garment that I put on and then put aside? And Jesus weeps for each of us when we live our Christianity formally, not really.

There is the hypocrisy of sinners, but the hypocrisy of the righteous is the fear of the love of Jesus, the fear of letting ourselves be loved. And actually, when we do this, we try to take control of our relationship with Jesus. We say to him, "Yes, I´m going to Mass, but then you stay in the Church while I go home." And Jesus does not come home with us, he does not come into our families, into our children´s education, into our school, into our neighborhood... (Daily Readings reflection, Saint Martha, 2018, October 5).

Daily Prayer for the Gospel.

Lord, You know my heart all the difficult situations I have had to live through, but I continue to trust in Your love that embraces and consoles me. You have left me words of hope, but also hard words with which you warn me of the dangers of walking without you. I trust that your teachings correct my steps and give me strength to face all the obstacles in my life. Amen. The Pope´s daily quotation.

"Let us pray together for the seafarers and fishermen, who in recent times have faced many sacrifices, ensuring, with their work, food and other basic necessities for the human family to alleviate the suffering caused by the pandemic," Pope Francis.
