The Litany of Saint Joseph is a great prayer to ask for help and assistance from the leader of the Holy Family in times of difficulty
Litany of Saint Joseph: Powerful help in extreme difficulty.
The Litany of Saint Joseph is one of the six litanies approved by the Holy Catholic Church for public and private use. They summarize the main virtues and qualities that made Saint Joseph an important and essential part of the life of the Holy Family. They are a powerful help and aid in times of difficulty.
Although the Litany of Loreto is the most widely recognized today, because it is used at the end of the prayer of the Holy Rosary, we should never discard the Litany of Saint Joseph. You will find the reasons for this in this document.
Although Saint Joseph does not appear much in the Scriptures, this "just man" (as he is called in Matthew 1:19), who did not utter a word, was a humble carpenter, who faithfully served the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Lord Jesus Christ, as their foster father and their chaste guardian through the difficulties they faced.
The Litany of Saint Joseph addresses him as a diligent protector of Christ in times of adversity. Here we are reminded of his important mission and protective role in taking the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus to Egypt to protect our Lord from being killed by King Herod (Matthew 3:13-16). All this was revealed to Saint Joseph through dreams and apparitions of the Angel of God.
These litanies to Saint Joseph also refer to him as the pillar of the families. His example of protection and good fatherhood in the Holy Family makes him the best example for parents to follow today. The faithful ask Saint Joseph for help in many cases, but the most predominant is for employment and workers, since Saint Joseph stood out as a hard-working man, a carpenter recognized in his town. He is also invoked to protect the family, buyers and sellers of real estate and, of course, carpenters, among others.

Saint Joseph is the patron saint of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis recognized him from the beginning of his pontificate in 2013, as his patron saint for protection. At the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis confirmed a directive to include the name of Saint Joseph permanently in the Eucharistic prayers used at most Masses in the Latin rite. He formally inaugurated his papacy on the feast day of Saint Joseph, March 19, and has a tuberose, the flower used as a symbol of Saint Joseph, on his coat of arms.
